Your stories - why you have helped
We know that behind every donation, fundraising activity or legacy left to us, there is a story. It's a story of our patients, our staff and the care we provide and you receive. Here is where we will share some of these inspirational stories
It’s all even at the QE charity football match at St James’ Park
A football team made up of staff from the QE’s bowel screening department took on a team from the local snooker club at the hallowed turf at St James’ Park – and raised almost £3,500 in the process!
More than 200 people turned up on a sunny Bank Holiday Sunday evening to support the two teams follow in the footsteps of Alan Shearer, Kevin Keegan and Bobby Robson.
They were treated to a game of high drama, passion, controversy, brilliant play and awful misses – just like any other game at St James Park!
Ruhel Uddin, from the QE’s bowel screening team, who organised the event said: “It was a brilliant day and such an honour and a privilege to play at St James’ Park – that is something none of us will ever forget. I thought the 2-2 draw was a fair result and a re-match could be on for next year! In total we raised £3463 for the QE’s special care baby unit and the British Heart Foundation
