Fundraiser takes to the saddle

Huge thanks to Lee Browell who came into the hospital yesterday alongside his mother, Jan, to drop off a donation of £583.90 for our charity.

Lee recently completed the 150 mile Coast 2 Coast bike ride, from Whitehaven to Newcastle, to fundraise for QE Charitable Funds. He also wanted to say thank you to the departments who looked after his mam when she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer four years ago.

He said: “I wanted to raise funds for the trust as our way of saying thank you as I will never forget all the good work the QE Hospital has done for my mam. After being diagnosed with cancer at Christmas in 2014, she had to have an 8 hour operation to remove numerous tumours throughout her body. She then had to go through months of Chemotherapy which has paid off as she is now thankfully cancer free.

“I can’t thank the team enough for all of their support and this is my way of giving something back to the hospital for patients and families who are in a similar position to us.”

Lee’s next challenge is the Great North Run where he aims to raise even further funds for the charity, if you would like to sponsor him you can visit:
